At its constitution in the present format (in 1996) the Bulgarian National Committee of ICOMOS prepared and accomplished one of the most famous editions of the international organisation that was dedicated to the International scientific symposium “The heritage and the social changes”, accompanying the 11th General assembly of ICOMOS (organised by the Bulgarian National Committee of ICOMOS in Sofia). The edition (in French and English) was advertised and distributed by the International organisation. Another contribution to the General assembly was the developed four guides for cultural tourism that were evaluated by the participants in the Assembly.
Part of the publishing activity of the Bulgarian National Committee of ICOMOS is related to the promotion of Bulgarian monuments of culture for which the association has provided international grants. The Bulgarian National Committee of ICOMOS participated in the preparation of the following editions: Conservation and restoration of the church “St. Dimitar” in Boboshevo and “Conservation and restoration of the church “St. Stefan” in Nessebar” (financed by the “A. G. Leventis” Foundation).
The Bulgarian National Committee of ICOMOS as partner of the Ministry of culture and the National Institute for monuments of culture in the project “The European network of the heritage” (HEREIN), participated in the development and updating of the National report – information for the national policy in the field of the preservation of the cultural heritage, as well as of the thesaurus on preservation of the cultural heritage.
The publishing activity takes an important role in the strategic plans of the Bulgarian National Committee of ICOMOS – related to its serious engagement in various trends – the theme for cultural tourism, legal regime of the cultural heritage in the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as scientific reports regarding specific monuments.
